He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Makerere University with specialization in environmental analytical chemistry. His doctoral research project involved profiling organic chemical contaminants in the atmospheric and aquatic environments of Lake Victoria. He teaches in the Department of Chemistry at Makerere University. His research interests include prevalence and fate of organic chemical contaminants in the tropical environment, the dynamic relationship between climate change and environmental chemical pollution, emerging chemical contaminants in the environment and their effects on wildlife and human health.
In addition to CIRCODU’s research activities, Kenneth is a Humboldtian – Georg Forster Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. His other interests include environmental risk/impact assessment, agriculture & food safety and water & sanitation. He holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Makerere University and a Bachelor’s degree in Science with Education from Mbarara University of Science and Technology. A professional teacher, Kenneth has also previously taught Chemistry in secondary school. Kenneth previously served as a Program Coordinator on the Africa Executive Committee for World Academy (now Association) of Young Scientists (WAYS) and is associated with a number of professional bodies including the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), American Chemical Society (ACS) and Pan African Chemistry Network (PACN).
Dr. Denis Muhangi, Veterinarian/wildlife pathologist (email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com): He holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Makerere University having researched on Epidemiology of Africa Swine Fever in Uganda and the factors responsible for its persistence. From 2016-2018, Denis will be a Post-doctoral fellow under the SIDA-Makerere University research collaboration 2015-2020 following on his doctoral research. He also holds a Master of Science in Veterinary Pathology and Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine, both from Makerere University. He also teaches at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Biosecurity (COVAB), MakerereUniversity. He is a member of Uganda Veterinary Association and American Association of Zoo Veterinarians (AAZV). He is also a proud alumnus of Envirovet (an international ecosystem health program for young biologists, veterinarians, conservationists). In addition to research at CIRCODU, he has research interest in Wildlife pathology,and Wildlife diseases (Parasitology, infectious and noninfectious disease conditions). On wildlife pathology, he has participated in and has research interests in monitoring of Oil and Gas impacts on fauna in the Albertine Graben and studying mountain gorillas with the Gorilla Doctors
He is a Doctoral student focusing on gasification of non-woody biomass gasification for thermal applications. Dr. Juliet Kyayesimira, Natural resources Conservation specialist
(firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com): She holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Uganda. She researched on post-harvest handling practices that influence the Physico-chemical properties and microbial status of beef in the meat value chain in Uganda. The research was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development under the Reduction of Postharvest Losses and Value Addition in East African Food Value Chains Project (RELOAD project). She also holds a Master of Science in Biology degree (Natural Resource, Ecology & Conservation) and a Bachelor’s degree in science Education both from Mbarara University of Science and Technology. Other previous areas of research are on restoration potential of degraded areas, ethnobotany and water and sanitation. Besides that, she teaches at Kyambogo University, Kampala Uganda.
Besides CIRCODU research interests which she upholds including energy, health and environment conservation, her other interests include Agriculture and food safety, water and sanitation, biodiversity and ecology and ethnobotany.
He is a Doctoral student of Chemistry at Mbarara University of Science ad Technology. He has a Master of Science in Chemistry degree from Makerere University and also holds a Bachelor of Science with Education degree from Mbarara University of Science and Technology. He currently teaches at Muni University Chemistry Department. Godfrey has also worked with International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF) Kabale, Uganda as a researcher. He has interests in Environmental Chemistry. He has interest and expertise in emissions and indoor air pollution measurement. For his Doctoral studies he is interested in characterization and source apportionment of combustion derived pollutants like PM2.5, Black carbon, PAHS, and other gaseous pollutants.
Alexander holds a Master’s Degree in Agro ecology, a Bachelor’s degree in Organic Agriculture all from Uganda Martyrs University and a Diploma in Forestry from Nyabyeya Forestry College Masindi Uganda.
Currently, Alexander is working with Centre for Integrated Research and Community Development Uganda (CIRCODU) as a Director and Research Consultant in areas of Forestry, Energy and Agriculture close to 7 years. CIRCODU is one of the leading professional agencies in the global renewable energy space that aim to create a more sustainable energy environment for local communities, reduce the carbon footprint and save money through use of efficient energy technologies. CIRCODU provides comprehensive solutions to domestic and institutional energy needs for cooking and lighting in both rural and urban communities. Their target products and services are diverse in nature ranging from solar, domestic and institutional cookstoves, biomass fuels (woody and non-woody) and biogas. Alexander’s day to day roles has been to coordinate Organization activities in research and consultancies. The number of Technical staff under his supervison has been 40 both full time and part time.
Furthermore, for over 8 years (2005-2012), Alexander worked with the Ministry of Water and Environment as a Forest Plantations Officer under a Commercial Forestry Project (SPGS) that was funded by European Union /Norwegian. Under this job, Alexander gained enormous experience in working with the Government Projects and Private sector i.e Policy guidelines, writing technical and financial proposals/reports. The Project created response for tree growing in Uganda with over 50,000ha planted in this period by about 300 private tree growers. Among the early milestones for Alexander was a being a Co-author of the first ever Uganda’s tree planting guidelines for Uganda 2004.
Earlier on from 2003-2005, Alexander’s first experience in the agricultural sector hinged on interaction with farmers in Kabale district Local Government when he worked with the National Agricultural advisory services (NAADS) as a Service Provider for 2 years. During this time, Alexander gained experience in working with local Government Projects, and the local community farmers. The major roles included; to advise and provide information, knowledge and skills to farmers on improved methods of farming and agricultural development, to report to the Sub-County Farmers Forum Executive Committee on the performance of agriculture in general and on the performance of the farmers’ groups in their areas of operation.
He holds a Masters Degree in Intellectual Property(MIP) of Africa University and also a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering(BSc MEC) of Makerere University. Fred teaches at Kyambogo University in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and also works with Uganda Business and Technical Examination Board (UBTEB) as examiner in charge. He has worked with Kakira Sugar Works (Ltd) as a Shift Engineer
Isaac Ahimbisiibwe holds a Master’s Degree in Gender studies from Makerere University-Uganda; attended a post graduate course on “Beyond Income: Social dimensions of poverty and participatory methodologies of Investigation” from Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences (HiOA)-Norway and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Makerere University-Uganda, majoring in Gender studies, minoring in Sociology.
Isaac has over five (05) years of professional experience in the field of social work and institutional development with key expertise in research, report writing, strategic planning and community mobilisation. He holds good computer skills; proficient in Ms Excel, Ms Word, Ms PowerPoint, Ms Access and web surfing.
She holds a bachelors degree of Human Resource Management from Makerere University. She holds a certificate in Business Prcocess Outsourcing. She has worked with Bakari Associates an Audit firm as an office Administrator and Airtel Uganda as a customer care Agent. Lastly she is a very social and open minded person who loves God.
He Holds a certificate in secondary education and holds a driving permit CM & B. He holds certificates in competence driving from Ministry of works, certificate in safety observation and corrective action from Tullow Oil and a certificate in defensive driving from Automobile Association of Uganda. He has worked at Cash Farm Uganda as a field assistant and at Rweboha Religious Community as an agricultural manager .He has also worked as a driver at Gate 1 Travel, Mineral Services Ltd, East African Diary and Food Limited and Anifarm Creameries.
Jessy has over eight years of experience in systems administration. He has managed server infrastructure
and data-center operations across Linux and Windows. His specialization is in effective planning, installation,
configuration and optimization of IT infrastructure to achieve high availability and performance. He can
also create and deliver solutions tied to business growth, organizational development as well as systems/
network optimization. Jessy is a skilled problem identifier and trouble-shooter who is comfortable managing
systems, projects and teams within a wide range of IT environments. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Information Technology from Makerere University.
David has a master’s degree in Business Administration – Finance, Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration Accounting & Finance all from Uganda Christian University and Perusing CPA(U) level Three.
He has been in accounting and tax consultancy professions for a period of over Six years.
David has proven ability to deploy and translate learned and practiced skills into results in improved accountability, transparency and integrity. Through various trainings and exposure, he has developed knowledge, attitudes and skills that have positioned him well to face challenges positively, work within set targets both at team and individual levels under minimal supervision.
